Arts
John Gage
is Director of the Performing Arts Unit at KTP.
MUSIC
CONCERTS
What can a song do? It can make people proud of themselves, of their
land, their people. It can help them understand who they are, where
they came from, and perhaps, where they might be going and why.

Study
and Presentation of Folk and Traditional Music Forms
KTP honors artistic endeavors that are steeped in Kentucky tradition,
those arts that have grown through time within the many groups in
Kentucky that share the same ethnic heritage, language, occupation,
religion or geographic area.
Please see the KTP calendar
for dates and times of Performing Arts events.
INDEPENDENT
WORKS
Kentucky Theater Project occasionally rents
the Kentucky Theater to promoters and performing artists so they
may produce their own independent works. In this way KTP opens the
door to progressive artists and emerging arts organizations, making
it possible for them to build on their strengths of performances
and presentations to reach new audiences.
Theater
Drama has served as a method of learning and remembering from the
beginning of recorded history. It serves as a powerful force to
entertain, educate and provide emotional catharsis. Occasionally
community theater groups rent the Kentucky Theater to bring their
independent works to the stage to showcase theater arts with local
and regional talent and develop new audiences.
STORYTELLING
The International Order of E.A.R.S.
brings international championship liars, hall of fame singers and
poets, and award-winning tellers from down under and over yonder
to the Kentucky Theater as part of the annual Corn Island Storytelling
Festival, the second oldest storytelling festival in the United
States.
Project Improv
performs every Friday
evening at the Kentucky Theater in the bistro. Project Improv also performs
long form sketch comedy as fundraising events for the Kentucky Theater.
